Herranen is also a sought-after soloist in the concert field and has recently sung with notable conductors such as Tarmo Peltokoski, James Gaffigan and Ville Matvejeff.

As of season 2024/25, Sonja Herranen is a member of the International Opera Studio at Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, where she will be on stage in various productions and concerts, including the new production of Nabucco /Anna (Emma Dante/Bertrand de Billy and alongside Anna Netrebko, Luca Salsi, Mika Kares), Die Frau ohne Schatten /Dienerin, Kinderstimme, Hüter der Schwelle, Falke (Claus Guth/Constantin Trinks and alongside Andreas Schager, Camilla Nylund), Parsifal /Flower maiden (Dmitri Tcherniakov/Philippe Jordan and alongside Andreas Schager, René Pape, Elīna Garanča), and the new opera studio production of Der Freischütz /Agathe.

Full house for the festive season - Parsifal at the Staatsoper
Tcherniakov's Parsifal is once again on the programme at this year's Staatsoper Unter den Linden festivities - this time 4 BOM artists are taking part, which we are delighted about.
Under the direction of Philippe Jordan, Andreas Schager and Tómas Tómasson will be on stage from April 12th as Parsifal and Klingsor - both of whom already appeared in the premiere cast in 2015 with sensational success. They are joined by Johan Krogius as the First Knight of the Grail and Sonja Herranen as the Flower Maiden. Audiences have already been able to experience them in major roles this season, including Tamino and Agathe.

All performance dates: 12/15/18/20 April 2025
