Biography

Elisabeth Freyhoff was born in the Georgian capital Tbilisi, but moved to Kehl am Rhein at the age of 5, where she enjoyed a German-French school education. While still at school, she was a junior student at the Freiburg Academy for the Promotion of Gifted Students in the singing class of Prof. Angela Nick and afterwards continued her Bachelor's and Master's studies at the HMT Munich and the Theaterakademie August Everding in the classes of KS Prof. Christiane Iven, KS Prof. Julie Kaufmann, Prof. Sabine Lahm and Prof. Lars Woldt.

At the age of just 18, she made her debut with arias by Mozart, Künneke, J. Strauss and Weber at the Bremen Glocke with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmon Bremen. In the same year she sang Adele in a concert performance of J. Strauss' “Die Fledermaus” with the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra.

Elisabeth Freyhoff made her debut as Serpetta in 2023 at the Theater an der Wien in a production of Mozart's “La finta giardiniera”. Before that she appeared in several productions of the Kammeroper München (including: Susanna in “Le nozze di Figaro” & Caroline in “Il matrimonio segreto”) and the Theaterakademie August Everding (including: Gwen in “4.48 Psychosis”; 2nd Girl in “Achill unter den Mädchen” at the Prinzregententheater with the Munich Radio Orchestra).

However, the soprano not only has a great affinity for opera, but also for the genres lied and  concert. She has already sung at festivals such as the “International Kalamata Music Days”, the “Munich Biennale”, “MelosLogos” in Weimar and most recently at the newly founded “Ohefest” in Niederalteich, where she performed H. Wolf's “Italienisches Liederbuch” together with Gerold Huber and Jonas Müller.

Since the 2024/25 season, Elisabeth Freyhoff has been a member of the opera studio at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In her first season, she can be seen in five new productions as Anna (“Nabucco”), the Girl (“Kreidekreis”), First Witch (“Dido & Aeneas”), Second Nymph (“Rusalka”) and in the world premiere of the children's opera “Pinocchio”. She will also play the Taumännchen in the historical production of “Hansel & Gretel” by A. Meyer-Hanno.

Elisabeth Freyhoff speaks 5 languages fluently, received many years of ballet training and was awarded scholarships from the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes and the Deutscher Bühnenverein - Landesverband Bayern.
