Biography

The young mezzo-soprano Luzia Tietze comes from southern Germany and developed a passion for music at an early age. Her path began at the Musikhochschule Freiburg, where she completed preliminary studies with Reginaldo Pinheiro. In 2015 she successfully completed her Bachelor's degree at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and continued her musical education in the Master's program with Kammersängerin Uta
Priew.

In 2019, Luzia Tietze won 1st prize in her age group at the competition Triomphe de l'Art in Brussels. She was also awarded a scholarship from the Lotte Lehmann Academy Perleberg. She participated in master classes of renowned artists such as Marina Prudenskaya, Dunja Vejzovic, Anna Samuil, Janet Williams and Julia Varady. In Berlin she also attended the Lied classes by Wolfram Rieger and Thomas Quasthoff.

From 2020 to 2023, she was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Cologne Opera, where she with various roles such as Anton in Eröd's "Pünktchen und Anton" as well as 3rd Elf in "Rusalka", Mercédès in "Carmen", Hippolito in Purcells' "The Tempest", 3rd Maid in Zemlinsky's "The Dwarf", 3rd Lady in "The Magic Flute" and with roles in "Der Ring des Nibelungen für Jung und Alt".
Under the direction of James Gaffigan and Richard Jones, she made her debut at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia in the role of the Governess in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades at the beginning of the 23/24 season, followed by an invitation to sing the 3rd Lady in "Die Zauberflöte" in 2024. 
This season, she can be seen at the Aachen Theatre as Modestina in Rossini's "Il Viaggio a Reims" and Mercédès / Carmen. In concert, she has just performed Lera Auerbach's Symphony No. 6 "Vessels of Light" under the direction of François Leleux and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.
