		Young Croatian baritone Miljenko Turk has been a member of the ensemble of the Cologne Opera since 2001 where he - in 2006 - won the Offenbach-Prize for his outstanding development both in singing and performing. In 1994 he had begun his singing studies at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria) with Prof. Wolfgang Gamerith, where he graduated with honours in 1998. Following further studies there in Art, Song and Oratorio he completed a post-graduate course with Prof. Hans Sotin at the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne and took part in numerous masterclasses, amongst those given by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Miljenko Turk has been a successful participant and prize-winner in many international singing competitions (including the Rosa Ponselle Competition in New York and the „Franz Schubert und Musik der Moderne“ in Graz). During his studies he already appeared in various opera productions, singing such roles as Papageno, Don Giovanni, Guglielmo and Schaunard. He sang in the World Premiere of Schedel’s „Riesen, Zwerge, Menschenfresser“ at the Carinthian Summer Festival in Austria and was a soloist with the Academy Orchestra of Tokyo in Nagoya in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Miljenko Turk´s broad experience as a concert singer covers a wide-ranging repertoire. He appeared many times at the Cologne Philharmonie and other main cities (like Munich’s Philharmonie) in works of Orff (Carmina Burana), Szymanowski, F. von Suppe, Cherubini and Gounod. At the Cologne Opera House he performed such roles as Le Dancaire and Morales in “Carmen”, Marullo, Papageno, Nardo in „Die Gärtnerin aus Liebe“, Dandini in „La Cenerentola“ and Silvio in „Pagliacci“. Following his great success in the role of Hamlet in the World Premiere of Juraj Benes´ opera „The Players“, he was named „Best Young Singer 2002“ by „Theater pur“ opera magazine. In the Cologne 2004/2005 season he sang the role of Ping in „Turandot“ as well as Daniello in „Johnny spielt auf“, both directed by Günter Krämer. 2004 he had his debuts at the Dresden Semperoper („Celan“) and at the Bayreuth Festival („Parsifal“) with conductor Pierre Boulez - he returned to Bayreuth in 2005. Also in 2005, Miljenko Turk had his debut at the Garsington Opera Festival as Raimbaud in the Rossini Opera „Le comte Ory“ with conductor David Parry, and he was invited to Vienna (Volksoper) singing the title role in Franz Léhars „Der Graf von Luxemburg“ and Dr Falke in „Die Fledermaus“ (he returned to the Volksoper as Ottokar in „Freischütz“ in 2007 and in 2008 for the title role in Rossini’s “Der Barbier von Sevilla”as well as for Falke and Papageno). In 2006 Miljenko Turk had his debut at the Salzburg Summer Festival („La finta semplice“ and „L´oca del Cairo“) - the Mozart edition won the famous ECHO Klassik prize. In the Cologne Opera season 2006/2007 Miljenko Turk sang a.o. Guglielmo in “Cosi fan tutte”, Marcello in “La Bohème” and the title role in Britten’s “Billy Budd” (stage directors Michael Hampe and Willy Decker). In May 2006 a CD was published by Capriccio in cooperation with the WDR, featuring Miljenko Turk as Scapin in Etienne-Nicolas Méhul’s opera “L’Irato ou l’Emporté”. In summer and autumn of 2007 Miljenko Turk not only returned to Bayreuth Festival, but also sang at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele (under the conductor Michael Hofstetter) and in Leipzig’s Opera house. The highlights of the Cologne Opera season 2007/2008 was his debut as Wolfram in “Tannhäuser”, followed by 2008/2009 debuts of Sharpless, Wildschütz-Graf and Olivier in “Capriccio”. Guest appearances brought him to Bamberg (for a Haydn opera with the Bamberger Symphoniker under Jonathan Nott), Ludwigsburg (his first Luna in “Trovatore”), Frankfurt/Oder and Potsdam (Mahler’s “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen”). 2010 began with some highly acclaimed Marcellos in Cologne’s “Bohème”, followed by guest appearances at the Staatsoper Stuttgart in “Turandot” and Dr.Falke in “Die Fledermaus”. In Cologne, he could again be heard in “Madama Butterfly” (Sharpless) and “Rheingold” (Donner), followed by Peter Eötvös’s “Love and other Demons” - with the role of Pater Delaura he also gave his debut in the Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg. Turk’s Cologne Fans could see him as Papageno as well as Dr.Falke (in the Philharmonie), and will be able to listen to his Edwin in “Csárdasfürstin” as well as the Bariton-Solo in “Carmina burana” which he will also present in Munich and Stuttgart in March 2011. 2011/12

		Der kroatische Bariton Miljenko Turk gehörte bis zur Spielzeit 2009/2010 dem Ensemble der Kölner Oper an und ist ihr seitdem als Gast verbunden. In Köln bekam er für seine besonders eindringlichen Interpretationen den Offenbach-Preis überreicht. Hier sang er u.a. den Papageno/Zauberflöte, Dandini/La Cenerentola, Silvio/Pagliacci, den Vater/Hänsel und Gretel, Dr.Malatesta/Don Pasquale, Marcel/La Bohème, Guglielmo/Così fan tutte, Hamlet in der Uraufführung von Benes’ The Players, (wofür er als bester Nachwuchs-Sänger 2002 ausgezeichnet wurde), die Titelrolle in Billy Budd, den Wolfram/Tannhäuser, Sharpless/Madame Butterfly, Donner/Rheingold, den Wildschütz-Grafen und Olivier in Capriccio. In der laufenden Spielzeit sang und singt er in Köln den Napoleon (Krieg und Frieden), den Harlekin (Ariadne auf Naxos), den Edwin in der Csárdásfürstin und den Eumet in Ulisse, in München gastiert er mit dem Dr.Falke/Die Fledermaus und am Ende der Spielzeit gastiert er unter der Leitung von Thomas Hengelbrock als in L’Ulisse u.a. in Paris und Essen. Von 1994 bis 1998 schloss er sein Gesangsstudium an der Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Graz bei Prof. Wolfgang Gamerith ab und besuchte anschließend den Studiengang Lied und Oratorium. Er vervollständigte seine Studien bei Prof. Hans Sotin an der Hochschule für Musik in Köln und bei Meisterkursen, u.a. bei Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Miljenko Turk war Preisträger vieler internationaler Gesangswettbewerbe und wirkte schon während der Studienzeit in verschiedenen Opernproduktionen mit. 2004 debütierte Miljenko Turk an der Semperoper Dresden (Celan) und bei den Bayreuther Festspielen, 2005 folgten erfolgreiche Auftritte beim Garsington Opera Festival (Le comte Ory) und an der Wiener Volksoper (Der Graf von Luxembourg), der er auch in den nachfolgenden Jahren (zum Beispiel mit der Titelrolle im Barbier von Sevilla und dem Papageno/Zauberflöte) erhalten blieb. 2006 sang er im Mozart-Zyklus bei den Salzburger Festspielen (La finta semplice und L`oca del Cairo) unter der Regie von Joachim Schlömer und dem Dirigat von Michael Hofstetter – beide Aufführungen sind als preisgekrönte DVDs erschienen. 2007 folgten Gastspiele an der Oper Leipzig sowie erneut bei den Bayreuther Festspielen und den Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspielen, wo er auch 2009 seine erste konzertante Verdi-Rolle, den Luna im Trovatore, sang. 2010 und 2011 konnte man ihn als Ping /Turandot und Dr. Falke/Feldermaus an der Stuttgarter Staatsoper und in der männlichen Hauptrolle in Love and other Demons (Peter Eötvös) in Köln sowie an der Opéra National du Rhin Strasbourg erleben. Miljenko Turk verfügt auch über ein breit gefächertes Konzertrepertoire. So war er mehrmals in der Kölner Philharmonie (zuletzt mit Ball im Savoy und Dr.Falke in der Fledermaus) sowie auch im Münchner Gasteig und in der Düsseldorfer Tonhalle zu hören und gastierte mit dem Brandenburgischen Staatsorchester Frankfurt (Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen). Miljenko Turk spricht und singt in mehreren Sprachen und ist darüber hinaus ein hervorragender Liedersänger, der sich selbst begleiten kann. Am bundesweiten Schulprojekt Rhapsody-in-school nimmt er ehrenamtlich teil. 2011/12

		Membre de l’ensemble de l’opéra de Cologne depuis 2001, le jeune baryton croate Miljenko Turk a remporté en 2006 le Prix Offenbach pour ses interprétations lyriques et ses remarquables qualités théâtrales. Après des études, à partir de 1994, à l’Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst de Graz dans la classe du Professeur Wolfgang Gamerith, il obtient son diplôme avec mention en 1998, avant de suivre une spécialisation dans le Lied et l’Oratorio. Il choisit ensuite de poursuivre ses études à la Hochschule für Musik de Cologne auprès de Hans Sotin, et participe à de nombreuses masterclasses, parmi lesquelles une de Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Vainqueur de nombreux prix tels celui de la Rosa Ponselle Competition à New York, ou encore celui du concours « Franz Schubert und Musik der Moderne » à Graz, il se produit également au cours de ses études dans de nombreuses productions où il interprète les rôles de Papageno, Don Giovanni, Guglielmo et Schaunard. En tant que membre de l’Opéra de Cologne, Miljenko Turk s’est construit un vaste répertoire. On a ainsi pu l’entendre notamment dans Papageno / Die Zauberflöte, Dandini / La Cenerentola, Le Dancaire et Morales / Carmen ou encore Nardo / La finta giardiniera. Très applaudi pour son interprétation d’Hamlet lors de la première mondiale de l’opéra de Juraj Benes, The Players, il a été désigné Meilleur Jeune Chanteur 2002 par le magazine d’opéra Theater Pur. Plus récemment, l’Opéra de Cologne lui a confié les rôles de Guglielmo / Cosi Fan Tutte, Marcello / La Bohème, mais aussi le rôle titre de Billy Budd, dans une mise en scène de Willy Decker. Enfin, cette saison 2007/08 l’a vu y faire ses débuts très bien recu par la presse dans le rôle de Wolfram / Tannhäuser. On le retrouve également sur d’autres scènes européennes : il chante en 2004 dans la production de Parsifal du Festival de Bayreuth sous la direction de Pierre Boulez ; il est ensuite invité au Festival de Garsington pour interpréter le rôle de Raimbaud dans Le Comte Ory de Rossini. Suivent des engagements au Volksoper de Vienne dans Der Graf von Luxemburg de Franz Léhar, dans le rôle de Dr Falke / Die Fledermaus, puis celui d’Ottokar / Der Freischütz en 2007. A noter également son retour à Bayreuth lors du Festival 2007, après avoir fait ses débuts l’été précédent au Festival de Salzbourg dans La finta semplice et L’oca del Cairo de Mozart. A retenir parmi ses projets futurs pour la saison 08/09, tout d’abord au Volksoper de Vienne, le rôle titre du Barbier de Séville, ainsi que Papageno / Die Zauberflöte, suivis de la reprise sur cette même scène du rôle de Dr Falke. A Cologne il interprètera également Sharpless / Madama Butterfly, Julian / Adrianas Fall de Marc-Aurel Floros, Der Graf / Der Wildschütz d’Albert Lortzing et Olivier / Cappriccio. 2008
